Thank you Rotarians for your donations of backpacks for Danbury Students.  These backpacks will be a great help to some of our Danbury Families.   I dropped off 14 total backpacks.

 Thanks So Much !!!!!Image

On this Memorial Day, I would like to ask everyone to stop, for just a minute, and think about where you would be if it were not for the Brave Men and Women that have fought and continue to fight for our Country and our Freedom.  I shudder at the thought.  Please pray for our soldiers and our country.

Thanks so much for your help with the Scholarship Lunch. It was a great day, and we made lots of scholarship money.

Please mark your calendars for Sunday, October 10, 2010 for our annual Scholarship Lunch at the Park. Please start getting sponsors for the event. Remember, all profits go to the DHS Scholarship.

The Installation Banquet was great !! Thanks to our Asst. Gov. Chris for installing the new officers, and to Filipp's Cafe for the GREAT chicken fried steak. Good Luck to Jenny on her year as President.

Here is an e-mail from Rotarian & Danbury Mayor Bill Turnipseed:

For those who don't know about "Project Patriotism" it is where the city of Danbury flies flags 365 days a year to honor those who protect our freedoms.  The city of Brazoria was the first in our county (and maybe the first in our country) to do this, and I'm proud that Danbury is the second city to honor our heroes in this manner.

I want to thank all who helped in any way in getting this accomplished and especially the Brazoria CountyCavalry for providing the manpower to put the flags up.

I would like to thank Bill for all his work on this project.   Truly "Service Above Self"

On Saturday members of our Rotary Club served over 150 hot dogs to members of the Brazoria County Calvary and our Hometown Vets during the Friends of Danbury Civic Club's  Red, White & Blue Festival.  The Festival honored the Brazoria County Calvary for all they do for our Vets and First Responders.  Rotary member Bill Turnipseed presented the award.

Thanks so much Rotarians, Buz, Tommy, Tim, George & Willie,  all of our guests, really appreciated it.

Our Club will once again host a GSE Team April 22 thru April 27.  Steve is looking for host families for our guests from Inda.  The team will be at the District Conference for most of their visit, so our time with our guests is somewhat limited.  If you would be interested in hosting, please see Steve.  It is something your whole family will enjoy.

After lots of hard work, lousy weather and a sluggish ecomony, the 2nd Annual Rice Farmers & Stockman's Ball went off without a hitch.  All the numbers are not in yet, and we may be down somewhat in profits, but all in all the event was a success !!!

A BIG THANK YOU for all your hard work

The Christmas Party with Alvin, Angleton & Danbury was a BIG SUCCESS.  The food was wonderful, the venue was great and the fellowship was priceless.  Our Club donated several boxes of food for the Food Pantry at Community Baptist Church.  We raised a little over 400 in the Fill the Stocking for Polio Plus. Our Interacters did a great job and made our club very proud.   A big THANK YOU to Matt Rickaway for the coordination of the clubs for this event.  I hope it will become an annual tradition.

Steve recieved the following  e-mail from Fransico with photos of the meeting he had with the Doctors and the Hospital

"Attached is a photo of Francisco meeting with the board and doctors  & of the hospital where the laparascope will be purchased with the joint grant.  Francisco said that when the grant is funded by RI they will take photos with the hospital staff receiving a "big check" with publicity for the Rotary Club of Danbury Texas"

I have started a Danbury Rotary page on Facebook.  Facebook is a venue for "social networking". If you are already on Facebook, you should get an invitation to join.  If you are not currently on Facebook, opening a Facebook account is free and you can do as much or as little with it as you want. Just go to facebook.com.   Check it out, and as always any suggestions are welcome :)

The 3rd annual scholarship lunch went off without a hitch.  The final count is not in yet, but estimates are that we sold around 300 plates.  A great big THANK YOU to all the helpers, from the enchalda rollers on Friday to the servers and runners on Sunday.   Buz & his crew once again went way above and beyond to turn out some wonderful food !  GOOD JOB ROTARIANS & INTERACTERS
